About Imaging at Nuvance Health

What types of imaging studies does Nuvance Health offer?

You have access to a complete range of imaging studies that support the management and evaluation of your medical care. We offer services from basic X-rays to advanced MRIs. Find out more about the types of diagnostic imaging and screenings we offer.

Do I need a physician referral (prescription) to access imaging services? In most cases, a physician referral is necessary that specifies the type of imaging study you need. Women who meet specific requirements may be eligible to receive a breast cancer screening (mammogram) without a referral. Find out more about breast imaging services.

Is an appointment necessary?

Unless you are having a routine X-ray, you will need an appointment. Many of our locations offer extended schedules, including early morning, evening and weekend hours, making it more convenient for you to access the services you need. Find a location.

How much do imaging studies cost?

Imaging costs depend on the type of study you need and your insurance plan. Prices for select tests are available on our hospital web pages.

Should I do anything special to prepare for my imaging study?

In some cases, no special preparation is necessary. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. If you are wearing jewelry or other metal objects, we may ask you to remove them. When necessary, special instructions will be given when scheduling your appointment or prior to your exam.

Imaging Study Results

How will I be notified of my results?

We typically post results in the patient portal within two business days. If additional studies are necessary, your doctor or nurse calls you.

Will my doctor receive my results?

The doctor who requested the study receives a copy of your results. Nuvance Health providers access your results as soon as they are available through our electronic medical record.

How can I obtain copies of my scans for later use?

To access copies of your scan, contact Nuvance Health Medical Records.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Does Nuvance Health have wide-bore MRI machines?

Yes, in some locations. If small spaces make you uncomfortable, wide-bore machines can offer a more comfortable experience.

What steps do you take to provide a safe MRI experience?

The team takes extra steps to ensure your safety, including gathering a detailed medical history when you schedule your appointment and prior to any study. If an MRI is not right for you, we offer other imaging studies.
