Sharon Hospital receives critical funding providing diapers for local families in need.
Sharon Hospital has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Draper Fund at Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation to support its Diapers Program. The Diaper Bank of Connecticut estimates that more than 30% of families in the state have difficulty affording a sufficient supply of diapers for their children.

What is the Diaper Connections Program?
In addition to the financial burden, it also affects a family’s ability to go to work, go to school and overall health. Access to affordable diapers increases the likelihood of maternal depression, parental stress and diaper rash in infants and children.
Working in collaboration with the Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA), the Diaper Bank of Connecticut addressed this statewide need for diapers. As a result, rural hospitals like Sharon Hospital can help families in the community.

The impact of the Diaper Connections Program at Sharon Hospital, thanks to the Draper Fund
To date, the labor and delivery unit at Sharon Hospital has given more than 60,000 diapers to local families in need. Alongside the Diaper Connections Program, this success would not have been possible without the generosity of individuals and organizations like the Draper Fund, a part of the Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation, which recently awarded Sharon Hospital a $10,000 grant in support of the diaper program.
“This funding will enable us to provide critical resources to families in need, helping alleviate a financial burden that so many of our patients face,” said Candy Osborn, women’s health services coordinator and nursing administrator for Labor and Delivery at Sharon hospital. “Thanks to this grant, we can continue making a meaningful difference for families and children in our community.”
