Susie’s creative, thoughtful and celebratory approach has shaped our experience of Danbury Hospital. She has served over four decades at the Hospital, most recently as Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives and Events for the Foundation. In her role, she has learned that celebration and engagement can define a workplace and motivate its staff. This is her passion and her priceless mission. 


A new initiative, the Susan M. Kania Endowed Fund for Employee Engagement and Satisfaction, will provide support for the key activities, programs and events she’ll use to help define the quality of work life at Danbury Hospital. Your gift of any size will expand the scope of her efforts and enhance the meaningful ways she can make our staff feel valued and cared for.

About Susie Kania

If you’ve set foot in Danbury Hospital, you’ve undoubtedly experienced the joyous spirit of Susan Kania. Over a professional career spanning more than 40 years, she has worked on events – for staff and for donors – ensuring that everyone feel our appreciation and gratitude. But all on her own, Susie has helped to make Danbury Hospital itself a vibrant community. Signs of her work are everywhere: festive lunches and snacks for Hospital staff; flyers organizing a winter coat drive; whimsical installations of holiday cheer; care kits and food drives to nourish body and soul; commemorations of veterans’ service; and so much more. 

 

As Danbury Hospital’s new Senior Director of Special Projects and Employee Satisfaction, she will create and manage programs and activities to support a positive work environment. While she will still be an essential part of our Foundation team, her new role will make full use of Susie’s extraordinary gift for fostering pleasure and boosting morale. In fact, employee happiness and well-being will now become her top priority.
