Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehab can help you breathe easier after lung or cardiac surgery or disease. A referral from your doctor is required.
Nuvance Health® takes a comprehensive approach to pulmonary rehabilitation. Our outpatient services help improve breathing troubles by combining rehabilitation, prevention and education. You may be a candidate if you’ve experienced or are being treated for:
- Chronic bronchitis
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
- Emphysema
- Interstitial lung disease
- Lung cancer
- Lung transplant
- Pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis
Accessing pulmonary rehabilitation
Physicians perform evaluations for eligibility to the rehabilitation program. You’ll receive a personalized plan to help get your breath back. We develop an exercise program based on your ability and health needs—and we’ll monitor your progress throughout the program.
We also provide informative sessions on nutrition, exercise guidelines, stress, smoking cessation, medication management and the proper use of respiratory equipment. With every improved breath, your overall health improves.
The program aims to:
- Improve your activities of daily living
- Develop a greater sense of well-being and confidence
- Improve quality of life
- Increase your understanding of pulmonary disease and medications
- Decrease your risk of hospital readmission
