Putnam Hospital has welcomed two doctors of obstetrics and gynecology to the team: Laura Twist, MD, and Helen Na-Chuang, MD.
“We are thrilled to bring these skilled and dedicated physicians onboard,” hospital President Dr. Mark Hirko said. “Their well-rounded approach to women’s health will enable us to deliver personalized and compassionate care to Putnam and the surrounding areas.”

Dr. Twist provides comprehensive care through pregnancy, office-based gynecology and gynecologic surgery, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures.
“Someone once asked me to describe what I do in four words. I said, ‘Take care of women,’” she said. “That's what I love to do — from pre-teen and teen years, through the rollercoaster of childbearing, to menopause and beyond. It is important to me to help women understand their bodies and natural physiology.”
Dr. Twist earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed her residency in OB-GYN from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Na-Chuang has been in practice for more than 30 years. Her expertise and nurturing way are evident in the care she delivers to women of all ages.
“I listen to my patients’ concerns,” Dr. Na-Chuang said. “Together, we formulate a treatment plan that the patient can follow to get the best possible result.”
A graduate of SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine, Dr. Na-Chuang completed her residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York.
“I was drawn to women’s health because of the privilege of working with pregnant people in welcoming their new births and ensuring women enjoy a healthy reproductive life,” she said.
