As a cardiac surgeon, Kenneth Hassler, DO, takes pride in combining surgical precision with compassionate care.
“I treat my patients as if they were my own family members and work tirelessly to bring them the best possible outcome,” Dr. Hassler said.
Dr. Hassler recently joined Nuvance Health and sees patients at Nuvance Health Medical Practice in Danbury and Norwalk and performs surgery at Danbury Hospital.
He is board certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery and has specialized expertise in aortic procedures.

Dr. Hassler earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine from the New York Institute of Technology’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glen Head, NY. He completed his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., followed by an Advanced Aortic and Endovascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
His training has equipped him with a wealth of experience in treating challenging cardiac and aortic cases. His specialties include adult cardiac surgery, open and endovascular aortic surgery, complex aortic repair, aortic annular enlargement (Y-incision), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, as well as high-risk reoperative surgery, a surgical procedure performed on the heart or its surrounding structures after a previous cardiac surgery.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Hassler enjoys spending quality time with his wife, two sons and their dog. An avid sports fan and athlete, Dr. Hassler balances his passion for medicine with his love for sports and outdoor activities.
He has always been drawn to the field of cardiac surgery for its life-changing impact on patients’ lives.
“The greatest reward in my specialty is seeing my patients recover and return to the lifestyle they deserve,” he said.
