Nuvance Health stroke teams continue to bring quality care and support services to the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut.
Nuvance Health’s hospitals in New York and Connecticut have earned American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines® quality awards for stroke services. The awards reflect Nuvance Health’s commitment to providing life-saving stroke services and resources to help individuals and caregivers maintain their quality of life.
Earning stroke quality awards
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association awards depend on the evaluation time period and capabilities available at each hospital:
Danbury Hospital achieved Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus, Target: Stroke and Target: Type 2 Diabetes.
Norwalk Hospital achieved Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus, Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
Vassar Brothers Medical Center achieved Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus and Target: Type 2 Diabetes.
Putnam Hospital achieved Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.
Northern Dutchess Hospital achieved Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus, Target: Stroke Honor Roll.
Sharon Hospital achieved Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus and Rural Stroke Silver.

Providing compassionate, exceptional stroke care

Advanced technology for stroke care includes biplane angiography systems at Danbury Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Endovascular neurosurgeons can open blockages in vessels through tiny incisions with great precision to restore blood flow to the brain after an ischemic stroke. Vassar Brothers Medical Center also has a portable MRI system to diagnose and manage neurological conditions such as stroke.

Nuvance Health hospitals have also achieved Joint Commission certifications for meeting rigorous stroke care standards. Danbury Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Vassar Brothers Medical Center have Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center Certification for endovascular treatment and management of ischemic stroke. New Milford Hospital has Acute Stroke Ready Certification, and Northern Dutchess Hospital and Sharon Hospital have Primary Stroke Center Certification.
