Nuvance Health is proud to announce a multi-year gift from Linde (formerly Praxair) to support its Global Health Program.
This generous donation will directly contribute to the training of Global Health Scholars through the newly established Majid Sadigh, MD, Global Health Academy (GH Academy) at Nuvance Health. This gift reaffirms Linde’s longstanding commitment to advancing global health and aligns with the GH Academy’s mission to educate and empower the next generation of global health leaders worldwide.
"Linde's legacy of support for Global Health initiatives, which enhance healthcare access and outcomes worldwide, continues to inspire us at Nuvance Health," said Bulat A. Ziganshin, MD, PhD, director of the Nuvance Health Global Health Program and the Christian J. Trefz Family Endowed Chair in Global Health at Nuvance Health. "We deeply appreciate their support and the profound impact they are making on the future leaders of global health."
"Linde is proud to play a role in advancing global health through our support of Nuvance Health's Global Health Program," said Jennifer Abousaada, Linde's Senior Global Giving Program Manager. "Linde's commitment to community engagement guides our charitable contributions and employee volunteerism efforts. Together, our philanthropy and focused action not only enriches the communities where Linde operates but also contributes to the long-term improvement of our world."
Linde’s continued support comes at a pivotal time, as Nuvance Health prepares to host the 3rd Annual Nuvance Health Global Health Conference September 23-24 in Danbury, CT.
The gift also comes amid the Global Health Program’s inclusion in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Science Summit September 10-27 in New York City. These presentations, led by the Christian J. Trefz Family Endowed Chair in Global Health, Dr. Bulat Ziganshin, will cover critical topics such as global mental health education, intercultural development and capacity building in global health.
A legacy of support
This is Linde’s second commitment to Nuvance Health’s Global Health Program. Through their initial contribution, Nuvance Health created the Linde Global Health Scholars Program to train top healthcare workers around the world and advance the cause of health equity.
In 2012, the Global Health Program and the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine established a partnership with six countries as well as domestic sites in the United States (U.S.). The program provides students, residents and physicians global health courses at these partner sites.
Over the past 30 years, Linde has been a consistent supporter of Nuvance Health, including significant contributions to Danbury Hospital’s Praxair Cancer Center and cardiovascular services. Their latest gift underscores their dedication to global health education and the development of future leaders in the field.
A global impact
The Linde Global Health Scholars Program will support scholars from partner sites of the GH Academy across Armenia, Botswana, Dominican Republic, India, Uganda, Thailand, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. These scholars will receive comprehensive training in the U.S. at the Nuvance Health GH Academy, preparing them for leadership roles in their home countries. The program also fosters collaboration between low- and middle-income countries through teaching and capacity-building initiatives.
Linde’s investment will play a crucial role in expanding the reach and impact of the Nuvance Health Global Health Program. As the program grows, it will continue to cultivate a global network of healthcare leaders who are equipped to address the world’s most pressing health challenges.
