Patients should have high expectations for their primary care doctor and should be part of the decision-making when it comes to their health, according to Dr. Chelsea M. Smith.
Dr. Smith returned to her native state from Chicago and is a new primary care physician at Nuvance Health Medical Practice’s Wilton office.
“I enjoy being the person who focuses on the patient as a whole and makes sense of their multiple medical diagnoses and treatments that specialists may recommend,” said the internal medicine physician.
She sees adults 18 and older and has a special interest in women’s health, healthy aging, weight management and preventative care.
“I chose internal medicine, and specifically primary care, because I love caring for patients over a long period of time and getting to know their families,” she said.
With her medical degree from the University of Michigan, she then went on to complete her residency training in internal medicine at the University of Chicago.
“I am thrilled to be back in Connecticut after many years away and look forward to spending time with old friends and family,” she said.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Smith is an avid baker, who also enjoys time spent with her husband, son and two dogs.
