$30K Share the Love gift benefits Northern Dutchess Hospital

Share the Love - NDH breast cancer care donation

05/03/2021

To support breast cancer detection and treatment, Northern Dutchess Hospital recently received about $30,000 from Ruge’s Subaru through Subaru’s annual Share the Love campaign.

The generous donation will be used to further support the hospital’s breast program led by Dr. Lisa Curcio, a fellowship-trained breast surgeon who relocated to the area last year from Laguna Hills, Calif.

“The Share the Love financial gift allows us to enhance the lifesaving breast cancer services we offer right here in Rhinebeck,” hospital President Denise George said.

“This donation supports breast cancer patients and their families as we look to add a patient nurse navigator to help coordinate their care, provide education and emotional support, and much more,” said Curcio, who sees patients in Rhinebeck and Kingston.

During December’s Share the Love campaign, anyone who purchases or leases a new Subaru can designate $250 to be given to a national charity or the dealer’s local one of choice. Ruge’s has selected Northern Dutchess Hospital as its hometown charity recipient for seven consecutive years, awarding $28,981 this campaign and about $170,000 over time.

Lewis Ruge, whose father founded Ruge’s Automotive, has been a member of the hospital’s board of directors for 46 years and the hospital’s foundation board for 37 years. His daughter and Ruge’s CEO, Kristin Hutchins, is vice chairwoman of the foundation board.
